The Poem Bench in front of the Plaque has inscribed into the seat a poem
by Derek Ward
AS I TRUDGE THROUGH THE PEAT AT A PACE SO SLOW
THERE IS TIME TO REMEMBER THE DEBT WE OWE
TO THE "KINDER TRESPASS" AND THE RIGHTS THEY DID SEEK
ALLOWING US FREELY TO RAMBLE THE DARK PEAK
This poem is one of fifty installed in 2003 to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the setting up of the Peak Park Ranger Service.
