Memorial Square Hayfield
First stage of Village Centre improvement - the Memorial Square
Plans are well advanced the first stage of the Hayfield Village Centre improvement scheme has been completed
It starting with the resurfacing of the area in front of the War Memorial which is used for many Village Events as well as being the centerpiece of the Village.
Hayfield Development Trust working with the Parish Council obtained the funding from Groundwork Community Spaces which is funded by the National Lottery, Small grants were also obtained to repair and paint the RailingsWork replacing the tarmac surface and reinstating with local materials has been completed when the potholed surface was lifted the original Victorian setts were found underneath, The plan was slightly modified to retain these setts and instead put the flagstones as footways with level areas at each end for pedestrian, disabled and pushchair access.

Further work is planned to raise the surface arround the Cenotaph and provide of benches and flower containers outside the Surgery.
Whist the original illumination was by gas lamps supplied by the Hayfield Gas Co which were state of the art for the time in these environmentally conscious times it has been decided to again use state of the art illumination this time it will be the latest low energy LED Street Lamps.
Hayfield will be the first Village in Derbyshire to use this form of Street Lighting.
