The Sett Valley Trail

The Trail runs from Hayfield Station car park and Information Centre, following the route of the old Railway line to join the main Manchester Sheffield Line at New Mills Central Station, which is still in use

About 100yds down the trail on the right is 'Bluebell Wood' or 'The Rookery' to give it its old local name unfortunately the large Rookery has been dispersed due to disturbance and felling of larger trees. However we have not lost them, they have set up a number of small rookeries around the village.
